Hello.
There’s something about a summer holiday that calls for bright colours, playful patterns, and a little bit of sunshine—and this card brings all three together!
I started with a crisp white card base and created a layered background using several shades of blue. The textured blue panel gives the card a wonderfully beachy, almost watery feel, while the darker blue patterned paper adds movement and contrast.
For the focal point, I combined several different patterned papers. The floral panel adds a cheerful pop of colour, while the colourful chevron pattern brings in a fun, summery feel. A circular element featuring a beach-inspired image ties the different patterns together.
To finish the card, I added a “Summer Holiday” sentiment across the bottom. The mix of blues, colourful patterns, and the beachy focal image makes this card feel like a little summer vacation in an envelope!
How I Made It
- Start with a white card base.
- Layer several coordinating blue papers onto the front, using different patterns and textures for interest.
- Cut a floral patterned-paper panel and mat it with a darker coordinating colour.
- Add a smaller chevron-patterned piece above it.
- Die-cut or punch a circle from a beach-themed paper and mat it with the same darker colour.
- Arrange the three focal pieces at angles to create a relaxed, collage-style design.
- Add the “Summer Holiday” sentiment across the lower portion of the card.
- Finish with a few small embellishments for a touch of sparkle.
